2019 Project Lemon Tree Cohort Grows!
This year’s cohort of new schools participating in Project Lemon Tree grew substantially over last year. While we worked only on the island of Oʻahu last year, this year welcomes participants on five Hawaiian islands.

Over the past couple years, we’ve partnered with over 60 schools to plant lemon trees. We’re also researching best practices for orchard growing lemon trees in our home state of Hawaiʻi. Castle High Grafts Lemons for Project Lemon Tree
We’re excited to work with Castle High School’s Hoʻoulu ʻOpio Academy of Natural Resources Agriculture group to graft and raise lemon trees for multiple schools on the windward side of Oʻahu. Twenty-four students learned to bud graft citrus trees and are now caring for the trees in their greenhouse.
